Investigations Divison

The Investigations Division is staffed by Detective John Brejska and supervised by Sergeant Harry Johnson. Patrol officers handle the investigations they initiate which are misdemeanor cases and in some case, felony investigations also. The detective investigates all crimes assigned, which are generally felony offenses. Only those crimes with good investigative leads are assigned for follow up investigations by the detective. Cases that are complex and require substantial time investment or those requiring specialized expertise are assigned to the detective for investigation. The Investigations Division also participates in inter-agency major crimes team only when required.

Evidence

The Property and Evidence Room is staffed and operated Detective John Brejska, and is under the supervision of the Investigations Division supervisor, Sergeant Harry Johnson.  When officers seize evidence of crimes, located abandoned property, or simply conduct a safe keeping of property, such as a bicycle of a person arrested, these items are processed through the Evidence and Property Room.

When a case is adjudicated and items of evidence are no longer needed to be retained as evidence they may be released back to the owner, destroyed, or sold at auction as disposable or surplus property per the Florence City Code. It is the core mission of any property and evidence room for the return of citizen’s property as soon as possible. Appointments are required to seek and/or obtain property from the Florence Police Department Property and Evidence Room. For further information call the Florence Police Department at (541) 997-3515 and speak with Detective John Brejska.
