Chief of Police Maurice Sanders
Chief Maurice Sanders' tenure with the Florence Police Department began on July 17, 2006 when he took the Oath of Office and became the Chief of Police. His law enforcement career actually began in earily 1973 when he became a member of the Military Police Corps of the United States Army. After leaving active duty in the military in 1974, he returned to college and earned his Bachelor's Degree while working full time outside of the law enforcement field, only to return to police work in 1983. He has worked in a variety of assignments while with a city department and sheriff's department in Northern California prior to be given the priviledge to lead the Florence Police Department into the future. Chief Sanders absolutely enjoys being a part of the Florence community and the great people who live here.

Lieutenant Ray Gutierrez
Lt. Raymond L. Gutierrez started police work in December 1977, with the Coos County Sheriff's Office. In December 1981, he left a Sergeant's position with the City of Myrtle Point to work for the Florence Police Department. On January 1, 1986, Gutierrez was promoted to patrol Sergeant and for several years was the only night supervisor until a 2nd sergeant's position was created in 1992. On January 1, 1998, Gutierrez was promoted to Lieutenant.

Sergeant John Pitcher
Sgt. John Pitcher started his career by serving as a Law Enforcement Specialist in the U.S. Air Force from 1984 to 1988. After leaving the Air Force, John immediately came to work for the Florence Police Department in February of 1988. John has served Florence PD as a patrol officer, detective, and is currently assigned as patrol sergeant. Sergeant Pitcher knows that Florence is a special place and enjoys serving as a law enforcement officer here and being a part of this community.

Sergeant Harry Johnson
Sgt. Harry Johnson began his career in law enforcement in North Dakota in 1977, where he worked in as a Patrol Officer, Detective, K-9 Handler/Trainer, Narcotics Officer, Field Training Officer, and as a Police Instructor in several law enforcement disciplines. He at one time spent more than a year working “undercover” buying drugs and stolen items from the criminal element. In 1987 he joined the Florence Police Department and began his tenure in serving the citizens of Florence. He has served as a patrol officer, detective, and is currently assigned as a patrol sergeant. Sergeant Johnson feels that Florence is a great place to live, work, and play.

Chief Communications Officer Kim Greenwood
Kim Greenwood was born and raised in Florida. She has lived in Florence since September of 1978 when she was hired by the City of Florence as a Communications Officer for the Florence Police Department. Kim feels the most satisfying part of her job is giving assistance to the public. The camaraderie within the department among co-workers and Officers makes it a joy to come to work every day. Kim enjoys traveling, gardening and her 3 wonderful golden retrievers.

Administrative Assistant Sarah Huff
Sarah Huff started with the Florence Police Department in September 2006. She oversees the day to day operations in the Administrative Offices. Sarah is also a Reserve Police Officer for the Florence Police Department giving back to the community that she has enjoyed being able to watch Florence grow and change.
